“Color is descriptive. Black and white is interpretive.”
– Elliott Erwitt
The beauty and allure of black and white film photography lies in its ability to distill a moment into its purest form, stripping away the distractions of color to reveal the essence of a subject. Shadows and highlights dance together, creating depth and texture that invite viewers to explore the nuances of light and composition. This timeless and tactile medium often evokes a sense of nostalgia, connecting the contemporary with the past while celebrating the artistry and craftsmanship inherent in each frame.
This is why I am captivated by film and all it’s nuanced processes and continue to explore its secrets.
